On Dynamic Properties

recurrent event copy link

Firing conditions

This event is raised by the panel, once for each row visible on screen, when the contents of the video buffer (the visible part of the panel) change. This typically occurs when:

  • The panel changes status.
  • The data in the panel is changed by the user.
  • The active panel row changes.
  • The user scrolls through the dataset using the navigation controls.
  • ...

Recommended usage

The OnDynamicProperties event is often used to set certain panel field properties cell by cell. For example, the visual style or tooltip of a cell can be changed, or a cell can be disabled or hidden, in a very simple way.

Arguments

The event has no arguments. The data in the active panel row can be read from the underlying IMDB table, but it cannot be modified in this event.
  • This event is recurrent, because it can be raised several times within the server's response to the browser in order to ensure complete updating of the visual properties whenever they change. For this reason, it should be used in stateless mode and should not contain any queries or complex algorithms.
  • In this event, the following procedures can be used: SetVisible, SetEnabled, SetVisualStyle, as well as the Tooltip and Text properties of the panel field, referring to cell instead of the whole column.
  • Note: for security reasons, it is not possible to enable a cell belonging to a disabled column or to show a cell contained in a hidden column. For this reason, care should be taken when disabling or hiding fields.
  • It is not necessary to restore the modified properties of cells, since these are automatically managed by the system. However, this is not true for static fields.
